Observation 138525: Gymnopilus P. Karst.

(50.4039° -101.323° 436m)

Notes: Growing from ground (in grass), potentially from buried wood (see pic) that was uprooted when I dug up the specimen.

Habitat: Grassy area sparsely covered in aspen (Populus tremuloides encroachment) in transition area between sandhills and aspen forest.

Not sure on ID (Cortinarius initial thought, but not a typical forest habitat) – could still check spores in microscope (no print obtained)
