On moss covered ground under balsam fir. Cap 6 cm., convex to flat, medium brown with red brown and yellow brown areas, smooth. Pores greenish yellow (unfortunately photos do not depict color accurately), round to angular, bruising blue, slightly decurrent. Stem 6 cm. × 1.75 cm., red brown, swollen at base and tapering at apex, yellowish tint at base. Flesh of stem and cap white. Taste mild. No distinctive odor. Spore deposit brown with greenish tint.
