Observation 139378: Inonotus obliquus (Ach. ex Pers.) Pilát

When: 2013-07-10

Collection location: 113 Birklands Dr., Cary, North Carolina, USA [Click for map]

Who: Rob Lenfestey (roblenfestey)

No specimen available

I have made an interesting discovery. In the Piedmont near Holly Springs, NC, at an elevation of around 400ft I have found a Inonotus growing as it typically would from Birch. I am thinking that I have discovered the southern and eastern most Chaga occurrence in the world thus far.
