Observation 139455: Monotropa uniflora L.
When: 2013-07-10
No herbarium specimen

Notes: i realize this is not a mushroom but they do have quite the relationship . Apparently they FEED on Fungi. I researched to see if maybe they had a preference in species but could find no documentation stating such. I found them to be extremely intriguing and just had to share.

germinate only in proximity to Rhizopogons, which are related to Suillus and Boletus mushrooms. I believe it depends on Rhizopogons for food source, too. Often Rhizopogon vinicolor.

Monotropa is parasitic on Russula and Lactarius
