Notes: West block of the park, off ecotour road
Growing in grassland of short, somewhat sparse vegetation with ground covered in moss and lichens
About 1cm tall (very small)
Gills with interesting pattern (“mazelike”)?
Somewhat fragile
Couldn’t get a spore print – check spores under microscope from gills?
No idea what species…

Later:
Probably Polyporus rhizophilus (syn. Polyporus cryptopus, Scutiger cryptopus)

Sept 7, 2013 Microscopy:
odour when wetted and crushed from gills is distinctly woody
spores abundant, rather long and spindly
Scale is 15 × 40 (highest magnification for my old microscope)
Took some quick photos of the dried specimens – see notes with pics
