Observation 139480: Lactarius deceptivus Peck

No herbarium specimen

Notes: Growing on moss covered ground under hemlock. Cap 4 cm., dirty yellow white, in-rolled margin, rough to scaly surface. Gills white, close to nearly distant exuding white latex. Stem 3 cm. × 2 cm., white, equal. Flesh of cap and stem white. No distinctive odor. Biting taste. Milk stains gills brownish. Cap turns red in KOH.
