On ground in mixed woods including hemlock and balsam fir. Cap convex, 4 cm., brown. Pore surface white. Tubes off white. Stem red brown and reticulated on top portion. Flesh of cap and stem white. No distinctive odor. No bruising. Taste bitter. Spore deposit pink brown. These are young FB’s; see MO 139530 for older FB’s.
