Notes: On moss covered ground under balsam fir in mixed woods. Cap up to 32 mm., reddish brown fading toward margin, thin yellow orange flesh, convex, umbo in center. Gills close to nearly distant, broad, yellow buff in button becoming rust. Stem up to 110 mm. × 4 mm., yellow orange brown, scurfy, equal, stuffed with dark material. Remnants of yellow buff cobweb-like veil on button. Spore deposit rust brown. KOH turns cap surface reddish brown.
