Actually, when I first examined this…

a little voice in the back of my head was saying… “muscaria… old beat-up muscaria.” The yellow muscaria var. guessowii frequently occurs along the trail where I made this collection. But the scaly-looking bulb was partially buried, so the scenario reminded my of Lepidella.

The specimen is preserved. Rod, if you think it merits examination I’ll put it in with the next shipment… speaking of which, I’ll probably put into the mail by next weekend.
