Notes: Mixed woods, hemlock, birch, oak, maple, tulip poplar. Several collections made along one small stream.

several different collections made on the same day in the same location. Differences in perceived color likely due to differences in lighting at the collection sites.
I have always thought the smallish “classic yellows” collected at this location represented the same species. But this belief of mine is likely just a carryover from those bygone days when I called them all “cibarius”. Very small ones growing in the mossy stream bank may actually be a different species than the larger ones found higher up.
Good eye Patrick. With any luck I’ll soon be able to get better observations of singular fruitings from this area.
Are these photos of different collections or is the color balance off? Which photo is closest to the correct color?
