Observation 14028: Lactarius deterrimus Gröger
When: 2008-11-08
Collection location: St. Genis, France [Click for map]
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Found under blue spruce.

Not sure what separates these orange guys over here really. Someone mentioned things are spruce vs. pine. One thing is that these had green stains. The latex stained the gill a nice forest green, and the stipe stained green with bruising.

The L. salmonicolor after two days, the latex stained the gills a purple-brown, although there were slight green stains on the stipe and cap from bruising.

Not sure if this is mentioned in descriptions on how these are different.
