Matches well with the account in the Big NA Bolete Book. Cap orangish at first, becoming yellow. Pores yellow to light orange. Lots of dark blue to black bruising. KOH dark reddish on cap, orange to rusty orange on context. Coniferous woods. The one thing that seems problematic is that the pores on the mushrooms in this obs are yellow to begin and become orangish.
Similar to B. subvelutipes, except pores are not reddish-orange to red, and cap color matures to a bright yellow.
Two specimens growing only a few feet away from each other.
