Notes: A couple of these were growing in the area between my driveway and the mixed woods under Mt. Laurel and Oak. They were larger and denser than any other Lactarius volemus I have encountered. They were also a bit paler than I am used to seeing. Where the gills were cut with my fingernail, they bled white latex instantly and voluminously. After some time, the damaged area turned reddish brown as it does with other Lactarius in this group.
