Thanks for your comment. Yes, it certainly does resemble the other observation from the Chiricahuas. Thanks for sending me the link to the other one. Saw this a number of years ago when I started observing fungi. Would love to return to either if these locations! Sylvia

In fact, this is the only MO observation of an Omphalotus of any sort between California and Missouri.

If this is O. olivascens it would definitely be a great record – furthest east that I know of, and first report outside of California. The picture does not totally convince me that it’s not a different Omphalotus (although it looks pretty good for O. olivascens). If you find it again in this area, please collect some!
