S. citrinum and S. areolatum similar.

S. citrinum has erect warts on peridium projecting 2mm or more. S. areolatum has a cracked peridium over peridium, sometimes raising the cracks to look like warts. Warts do not wash off. Cracked peridium may wash off, allowing the (usually) central pore to develop.
