Who: Christine Braaten (wintersbefore)

Specimen available

In landscaped area downtown, under Quercus. Odor, pleasantp-fungal, like Agaricus bisporus. May be too immature to ID, may not yield spore deposit. Did not appear to stain after damage, although as is evident from the picture there was some discoloration to the fruitbody when found. However, this did not turn red quickly like Leucoagaricus americanus.

Agaricus section Arvenses. That yellow to orangey-brown discoloration can take a long time, and is shown in the damaged fruitbody in your photos. Definitely won’t give a spore deposit at that age.
