Notes: On mossy ground under balsam fir in mixed woods. Cleft (star) bulb, brown staining. Measurements of largest button: 1) flesh thickness above stipe: 10 mm., 2) length of stem from top of bulb to bottom of cap flesh: 130 mm.,3) Length of bulb: 25 mm., 4) Stem width mid-height: 13 mm., 5) Width of bulb at widest point: 38 mm. Compare this A. brunescens to the smaller and paler variation in MO 140939.

If you have these dried, I’d love to try sampling them for sequencing…to see if beauty is reflected in the genome. (Only slightly kidding. Not kidding about the sampling, for sure.) :)
