On mossy ground under hemlock, balsam fir, red maple and white cedar in mixed woods that include birch. Cap 4-5 cm.,dark rust color, irregular, wavy margin, hairy/felty, thin flesh. Gills color of cap, broad, free to notched. Stem 5 cm. × 1 cm., color of cap, equal. Flesh of cap and stem yellow bruising rust. Cap surface turns black with KOH.

I think Cortinarius is promising. I’m taking a spore print now so if its rusty brown… If you get a chance let me know what you make of MO 141038.
