Observation 141522: Entoloma strictius var. isabellinum Peck

No herbarium specimen

Notes: On mossy ground under balsam fir and eastern hemlock in mixed woods. Cap tan/ brown with paler striate and wavy margin, distinct umbo, 33 mm. × 48 mm, irregular, wavy, thin flesh. Gills colored like cap,turning pinkish, broad, free to notched. Stem colored like cap with darker streaks, 40 mm. × 6 mm., equal, hollow. KOH turns cap dark brown. Spore deposit is pink.

I’ll post in upcoming weeks. All samples retained .. and not very convincing that each is the same.

I have not seen one this year.., MO shows only 5 posts in 2013. This year it seems rare and in other years common. Has anyone else noticed this?
