Thanks. Yes, I think I have learned that before, but subsequently forgot it. I went ahead and changed the name. Please feel free to propose a new name next time, Rod, I will definitely defer to your judgment on Amanita!

So far as is known at present, Bob, A. virosa is Eurasian.

The species (probably more than one) in eastern North America are presently all called A. bisporigera.

That would be a better bet for an ID.
