Observation 141883: Volvopluteus gloiocephalus (DC.) Vizzini, Contu & Justo
When: 2013-07-28
(49.2007° -106.7692° 960m)

Notes: East Block GNP, in SW “Story Lull” aspen forest area

Growing from ground by a fallen (cut) tree.
In sunny open area at edge of aspen forest by trail.
When specimen removed, soil was loose and somewhat sandy, with ants and buried wood (roots and pieces).
Likes buried wood and/or disturbed areas? (so far always found at edges between forests and trails or disturbed ditch areas)
Relatively common (several FBs found this day)
