Hello, Jon.

We have DNA from this collection, also. Again the name of convenience for the amerirubescens subgroup is “sp-amerirubescens01.” I think we probably don’t need more material from this site NW of Kendricktown, MO. So far, we have this same genetically defined subgroup from three counties in Missouri. At present none of the other subgroups are known from Missouri.

Maybe, by sheer accident, the localities that have produced “amerirubescens”-like collections are dominated by the single subgroup. If you have an opportunity to collect rubescent taxa elsewhere, we’d be interested to know if you find something from a different subgroup.

Very best,

Rod

Don’t worry. I’ll bet you don’t have too many basidiomycetes in your nose.

Maybe a basidiomycetous yeast. We’ve seen that as a contaminant once or twice in the DNA work-ups.

Very best,

Rod

I hope I didn’t sneeze on it lol

This material has been received and accessioned into Rod’s herbarium. We have scheduled it to be sampled for DNA sequencing.

Our preliminary results on North American rubescent taxa are very interesting.

I’d like to get this material sampled for DNA.

Very best,

Rod
