Who: Patricia A (Patricia A)

No specimen available

oak, sassafras, wild grape, raspberries. On downed log – do not know species, just off the trail which runs along the crest of this point. I did not collect a herbarium sample, but would be able to do so if this would be useful.

Recognized by sight: I have never seen this fungus in the wild – only in books and on-line. It appears to be Chicken of the Woods – but, I am a very new observer and am looking for input to confirm this. I would call it Laetiporus sp. only – given my novice status – but, the system defaulted to L. Murrill. Note that the woodland also includes maple, black walnut, sumach, ash.
