Collection location: near Echo Summit, El Dorado National Forest, California, USA [Click for map]
Growing at the base of a large Fir @ 7050 ft in dry conditions.
Caps up to 4.6 cm across. Striations 8-10 mm.
Edges of gills notably dark.
Some rusty spots on cap volval patches and stipe volva.
Could not get a spore print.
Found a few spores with a gill wash with KOH & Congo Red.
Spores ~ 12-16 X 12-15 microns, globose to subglobose.
Basidia ~ 50 X 23 ( see photos)
Closest match probably would be Amanita constricta but spores do seem a little large and habitat unusual.
