Notes:
Growing on ground at base of white cedar. Cap 15 cm. × 9 cm., red/pink brown with whitish patches and orange white margin, spongy (rain effect?), bruising darker, zonate cap flesh of same colors as cap surface. Spines up to 8 mm, color of cap. Stem blackish, 5-6 cm. × 2-2.5 cm. Twigs/leaves engulfed. Castile soap odor.
