Observation 14262: Cortinarius hemitrichus (Pers.) Fr.

When: 2008-11-15

Collection location: Larkspur, California, USA [Click for map]

Who: Ron Pastorino (Ronpast)

Specimen available

Notes:
These were growing near planted birch next to the Leccinum scabrum posted earlier.
The caps are small, 2.0cm and less. While the cap base color does seem to fade to a dull cinnamon, the fresh specimens appear to have a violet tint to them. Pictures found on the web seem to confirm this.
Spores were checked on 10-6-10. They were ~ 7.3-8.2 X 4.3-5.6 microns and moderately rough.
