that weighs against the ventricosipes proposal. If it’s the alleged association with oak, then I must add that I visited the collection spot today, and observed planted pines along with the planted oaks. Actually, the pines are closer to the mushroom patch than are the oaks. Some of the mushrooms (still remaining in-situ) are partially buried in the substrate… as B/B/F mentiones with R. ventricosipes.
