Observation 142877: Scleroderma bovista Fr.
When: 2013-08-14
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Identification based on Michael Kuo’s book, “Mushrooms of the Midwest”. He states the rind turns pinkish or purplish when it is sliced. This specimen does meet that characteristic. Body was about 3 cm. across. Found solitary in a residential area in mulch.
