I wish I had a better answer for you, but I don’t have the vocabulary necessary to describe the differences. Take a look at this page and this one and you’ll see quite a few things that are not the same.

This is where experience with the dark-spored shrooms comes in handy…

…so with a psath the annulus is pendulous not perronate? the vague gestalt seems pretty similar, at least to my untrained eye…what specifically screams psath to you Allen?

Looks a lot like Psathyrella candolleana. The veil and stature is not like a Stropharia.

…what was the final push for it to be a psath rather than a stroph? brownish spores?
