Cap 5 cm., rose red with purple sunken center (dark purple in button stage), mottled. Gills cream. Stem whitish, 34 mm. × 8 mm., soft, stuffed. Pleasant almost fruity odor. Mild taste. No bruising. FB’s dry and possibly faded as a result. On mossy ground in mixed woods that include beech, birch and balsam fir.
