Cap 38 mm., brown, convex, dry, felty, flesh thick and pale yellow. Pores pale yellow, small. Tubes yellow, depressed at stem. Stem pale yellow, 70 mm. × 15-30 mm., solid, tapered at apex, swollen at base, flesh pale yellow. All parts of FB bruising slowly mildly blue when cut or rubbed except cap surface which bruises darker brown and lower half of stem flesh which bruises red brown. No odor, mild taste. Cap surface orange with ammonia and red orange with KOH. On ground in mixed woods. Found a number of these over a few days, many were pretty far gone and quite large—stem bases fused in most.
