Observation 143575: Pholiota (Fr.) P. Kumm.

No herbarium specimen

Notes: I was hiking the Borrego Trail in Santa Fe, NM. this cluster was seen about 8 ft above ground in the tree. There were none others close by. I am not knowledgeable about mushrooms but I am curious and fascinated by these. Would appreciate any information. Thanks

Recognized by sight: Looks like it from the ring on the stalk and the color of the gills

Recognized by sight: Clustered on wood, milk chocolate brown spores, partial veil remnants. Perhaps non-toxic, but not commonly eaten.

Really doesn’t look like the examples. Very well formed family. Any other suggestions?
