Observation 143844: Craterellus tubaeformis (Bull.) Quél.
When: 2013-08-26
Collection location: Perry, Maine, USA [Click for map]
No herbarium specimen

Notes: On mossy ground in mixed woods. Cap 35 mm., shallowly funnel shaped, irregular margin, no hole in center, brown. False gills grey brown, decurrent. Stem brownish yellow, hollow, 30 mm. × 5 mm.

Rather early in the season for C. tubaeformis. Found just one FB with all of the characteristics: brown cap, gray brown veined false gills and hollow brown yellow stem but no center hole.

Note: In mid Sept. we found these fruiting in significant numbers as described here but with the center perforation.
