Notes: On mossy ground in mixed woods. Cap 35 mm., shallowly funnel shaped, irregular margin, no hole in center, brown. False gills grey brown, decurrent. Stem brownish yellow, hollow, 30 mm. × 5 mm.
Rather early in the season for C. tubaeformis. Found just one FB with all of the characteristics: brown cap, gray brown veined false gills and hollow brown yellow stem but no center hole.
Note: In mid Sept. we found these fruiting in significant numbers as described here but with the center perforation.
