Observation 144368: Russula Pers.

When: 2013-09-01

Collection location: north-central West Virginia, West Virginia, USA [Click for map]

Who: Aaron (CatFighter)

No specimen available

This mushroom had an oblong shaped stem. It smelled like anise or almonds (I think more like anise).

I cannot figure out what this one is at all. I thought maybe it was an oyster mushroom but it was by itself and the gills don’t go down the stem at all.

I can probably find more specimens to do more analysis (spore print, or cut in half) if that would help.
