This material arrived some time ago and now has been accessioned for the herbarium. I’m scheduling it for sampling for sequencing in the coming months.

rubescent amanitas sequencing project. I haven’t sent the material and don’t expect that the sequencing will occur before we are into the winter. However, if you send this material, we’ll include it among the material sampled for submaculata.

No apple odor detected…

maybe some “sweetness”, but perhaps I’m being biased.

The stem was cracked and blushing quite red. A good-sized mushroom with the cap about 3" across. This ID is an attempt by me to polish my field ID skills and I’ll gladly defer to you or whomever tells me I’m wrong. Amanita sect. Validae may have been a better initial field ID.

Any odor?
