Recognized by sight: Growing directly from well decayed wood in clusters. Has an acute umbo and has a very thin pileus.
Based on microscopic features: Subrhomboid spores, various sized pleurocystidia, crazy branched cheilocystidia, has pileocystidia
Based on chemical features: Stains blue where damaged. Smells farinaceous and somewhat ralphanoid, similar to P. zapotecorum but slightly different.
