Observation 144577: Abortiporus biennis (Bull.) Singer
When: 2013-09-03

Notes: Found on bare ground, in root mass of flowering cherry tree. Fungus has short stipe or stipe-like appendage; pores on the top of the sporocarp only, a flattened, dome-shape. If anyone would like to study it further, I am drying the only specimen found.

Looking at top of sporocarp. The top is covered by minute pores.
Close-up of pores.
Cross-section, showing very shallow pores and soft, cheesy consistency of sporocarp.
