Observation 144700: Gymnopilus picreus group
When: 2013-09-06
( 1700m)

Notes: This is an undescribed species of Gymnopilus that has only been found in the Maple Valley. It grows on Conifer wood and has unusually close gills.

The taste is very bitter, and the odor is slightly of anise.

Almost no veil was observed, even in very young specimens, however a small amount of white veil might be visible in the last two photos.
