Notes: On mossy ground at base of dead wood under balsam fir in mixed woods. Cap reddish brown, convex, up to 6 cm., smooth, dry, thick pallid flesh. Gills pallid, broad, close to crowded, free to notched, reddish in areas, jagged edges. Stem whitish, up to 4 cm. × 12 mm. No odor. Mild taste.
