On mossy ground in mixed woods. Cap up to 3 cm., purple brown with lighter fibers, darker umbo, paler splitting margin, hygrophanous. Gills pallid to rust brown. Stem color of cap, stuffed to hollow, up to 5 cm. × 4 mm. with annulus. Mild odor and taste. Rust brown spore deposit.
