On clay/gravel substrate under red oak. Cap up to 10 cm, convex then upturned, pink buff. Gills thick, purple, attached. Stem color of cap, scurfy, up to 10 cm. × 2-4 cm., solid, tough. Cap and stem purplish in button to whitish in old FB’s. White mycelia at base. Mild odor and taste. White spore deposit.
