On dead birch stump. Cap up to 5 cm., convex to flat, red brown over disc, fading toward margin. Gills pallid to gray then gray brown, attached, notched. Stem up to 5 cm. × 9 mm., red brown below and whitish above, ring, hollow, white basal mycelia. No odor, mildly bitter taste. Purple brown spore deposit. Overnight rains may have affected color as caps were quite wet.
