Recognized by sight: Pale gray thallus forming a rounded cushion of narrow branched lobes that are curved inward (the two sides of each lobe curve toward one another); lower surface white at the tips; no isidia or soredia; some faint white maculae; some edges browned; lower surface blackish in the center
