On ground under birch, beech and red oak in mixed woods that include mature white pine. Cap lilac, 5 cm., convex, pallid flesh. Rust brown gills in button stage, lilac cortina. Stem lilac with lilac veil sheath outside, rust brown flesh. Bitter taste. Odd odor.
