Scattered on ground under beech, red pine, balsam fir and white cedar. Cap up to 60 mm., convex to plane with umbo, white with brown hairy concentric scales, veil remnants at margin, white flesh. Gills white, crowded, free. Stem 8 cm. × 8 mm., brown scales below, white above, hollow. Mild odor and taste. Cream spore deposit.
