Observation 145575: Ganoderma sessile Murrill
When: 2013-09-16
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Large fungus found on mulch in urban Pittsburgh PA. 18 inch, round, rigid collection of variable size polypore fungi. The individual fungi are fused together. Top surface varying shades of brown and with a white border. Very woody and with a shiny “lacquered” appearance. Hemispherical bumps of variable sizes scattered over the top. (I wonder if these are very young fungi?)

White undersurface covered with small circular pores. Surface darkens when abraided like Ganoderma applanatum. No stalk.
