On mossy ground under poplar, balsam fir and hemlock in mixed woods. Cap up to 5 cm., yellow brown, convex with broad umbo, white flesh, slimy (no rain). Gills pallid, attached, white cobwebby partial veil. Stem up to 9 cm. × 12 mm., white and slimy upper half, yellow brown and scaly below. Mild odor and taste.
