I’m trying to figure out what Thelephora terrestris is doing on spruce cone. This was growing within closed spruce plantation. My understanding was that the species is usually associated with open pine forests and sand barrens (although the soil here is sandy too – but it’s not growing on it). Perhaps some other, little known species?
