Today I accessioned this material for our herbarium. At this point, the only muscarioid taxa we need from the NE of the US and SE of Canada are what we would presently call (per David Jenkins) Amanita muscaria var. alba…pure white cap skin from the button onward. This seems to me now to be the key to being able to use an existing name for the American muscaria (combining all the cap colors in on species as the genetics continues to indicate is the case).

I’m going to post something on WAO that indicates which species we no longer need to receive in quantities…I’ve got part of it drafted, but just want to think it out a bit more.
