Observation 146105: Polyporales sensu lato

No herbarium specimen

Notes: These two specimens (connected) were lying on the ground as if an animal had possibly dug them up. Have no idea where they were located originally (soil or wood). Not damaged however, but certainly not fresh.

Recognized by sight: Pores visible on hymenium. Possibly Gomphus sp. Looks like a parasitic fungus has colonized the specimens as well. Hypomyces?

Thanks for your input. I am going to a mushroom class on Saturday. I’ll take along the dried specimen. Maybe someone will take a look and offer suggestions.
